THE EVOLUTION OF AREA 52 ARTWORK
Most of the illustrations in Area 52 were completed by an incredibly talented artist named Andy Catling. He did the cover, as well as the character illustrations that you see at the beginning of the book.
Andy and I worked together closely to develop the artwork. From the first sketch to the final version, the art goes through an evolution as we obsess over every detail until we bring these characters to life.
I'm always curious about the creative process. The little steps and stumbles on the path to the final result. It's a great reminder that art isn't easy. It means going back to the drawing board (sometimes literally) again and again. Now it's YOUR chance to gain a glimpse behind the curtain of our creative process!
